The station, which launched in London in 1973, is loved across the world for its selection of classics from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s.

Initially, listeners can tune in via the website and the station’s Facebook page with a FM stations due soon after.

It is being launched by Roger Paine, who will present the drive time show as well as being programme director.

He says: “Capital Radio has a strong reputation for producing quality programmes along with an entertaining blend of great DJs and fantastic music, both tailored specifically for the UAE professionals over 35.”

Fans of artists such as The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Simon & Garfunkel and Abba will find much to like, he adds. “This type of music will be the main base of our music policy.

“Music transcends cultures and barriers and with the UAE enjoying such a cosmopolitan, diverse population there is something for everyone on our new station, and you can pick the play list on some request shows.”

As well as the music, listeners can expect competitions, local news and talk from daily guests specialising in subjects as diverse as financial advice to quick and easy recipes.
