Laughter Factory returns in October with Disorganised Chaos tour

Three more comedians come to Abu Dhabi

We’re always happy to see the Laughter Factory tour roll into Abu Dhabi, and after seeing the line-up for September, we’re sure this one is going to be an absolute corker.

Rerturning to the Park Rotana Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, October 17, this month’s bill includes a Yorkshireman,
a Mancunian and a German under the title The Disorganised Chaos Tour.

First up is respected German stand-up Christian Schulte-Loh, who has been enhtralling audiences around the world for years. He’s been described as “the only funny German” (these opinions do not reflect those of Time Out Abu Dhabi...) and gigs in his native language and English (and has been known to perform in Spanish, too).

Schulte-Loh is also a regular on UK television and at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. His comedy has been described as “subversive”, so  we’re definitely looking forward to seeing what he’s got to offer.

Another Fringe favourite, Mick Ferry, is also on the bill. The Mancunian is another veteran of the UK comedy scene, renowned for his quick wit and as a writer for comics such as John Bishop.

The final name on the line-up is Paul Tonkinson. Born in Scarborough, the funnyman is a regular face on British TV and has toured the UK and the rest of the world with Michael McIntyre.

All three are Laughter Factory veterans, having appeared on stage in the UAE before. It’s a line-up that the club’s co-founder Gail Clough is delighted to see.

She says: “It’s a very strong trio this month. We’ve been going for 21 years now and it means that over time we’ve had so many great people coming out to play with us. Now we’re in a great position where the comedians want to come and perform out here. It means essentially we have three headliners playing every night.

She adds: “Christian is one of the best acts we have. He is so funny and totally dispels any clichés about Germans having no sense of humour.

“Mick Ferry is a good friend of the club and always goes down very well. He’s a little more naughty than some of the other comedians we have on.

“And Paul is just a pleasure to have with us. He’s a real star and anyone who hasn’t been lucky enough to see him before is in for a real treat.”

Clough is also looking forward to seeing some familiar faces in the audience. “I genuinely think we have the best audience in the UAE. There are people I see that I know have grown with the club and we really value those that come out to support live comedy in the UAE.”
