Everything you need to know about Abu Dhabi Art 2019

Before we know it, the biggest art event in Abu Dhabi will be upon us.

Abu Dhabi Art 2019 has just announced that it will be taking over Manarat Al Saadiyat from November 21 to 23.

The visual campaign for the 11th edition of the arts festival will also feature artist and writer Ebtisam Abdulaziz, who will be expanding on her on-going project Life in a Bag.

Speaking about her collaboration with the event, Abdulaziz says: “Working with Abu Dhabi Art is a unique opportunity, and the event itself has inspired my new series; it documents visitors' bags from Abu Dhabi Art 2018, reflecting the diverse cultures and personalities it brings together.

“I think of them as portraits; through these items, culture, personality, social life, and different tastes are captured.”

Organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), the fair will feature a programme of exhibitions, art installations, workshops and performances.

This includes the Beyond series which will feature both commissioned and emerging artists and the annual Gateway exhibition of local and international artists.

Meanwhile, the Talks Programme will offer a series of stimulating cultural talks, conversations and book launches featuring some of the art world’s leading figures.

Abu Dhabi Art Community Partners and non-profit cultural organisations will also be offered spaces within the fair to highlight their initiatives, presenting displays that respond to the theme of Year of Tolerance.
