Abu Dhabi residents encouraged to recycle with new facility

Colour-coded bins will make disposing waste much easier

Abu Dhabi residents encouraged to recycle with new facility

Recycling household waste is about to get that little bit easier for residents of Abu Dhabi.

City officials are trying to encourage us to reduce waste to help the environment and are introducing changes to help make it easier.

A new recycling facility has opened in the capital with colour-coded bins for different materials.

The opening of the facility, located next to Khalidiyah Park, was held this week and was attended by a string of dignitaries and public officials.

The centre will study the types and quantity of waste generated and use the information to plan how to manage waste in different areas.

Colour-coded bins will collect 12 different types of recyclables including glass, plastic, metal, electrical devices, paper, cartons and bulky waste.

Officials hope it will help us cut down on what we throw away as worldwide efforts to protect the environment continue.

We reckon this is a scheme which deserves the full support of the city.
