Five essential outdoor massage spots in Abu Dhabi

You don’t need us to tell you summer is on its way. The temperatures are hotting up, but you still need to find the perfect way to chill out.

So why not make the most of the weather while you can and book a soothing outdoor massage.

There’s no need to worry about privacy as most venues will offer you a nice poolside cabana or seaside gazebo as you enjoy being pampered.

Here are five of our favourite outdoor massage spots.

Spa Beach Cabana at Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island Resorts
What’s more relaxing than chilling by the beach with the sound of the waves the only noise? Well, you can probably guess where we’re going with this. That’s right, a massage by the beach.

That’s exactly what’s on offer at the plush Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island Resorts, set against the beautiful backdrop of the Arabian Sea.

Let the expert staff massage your tension away and indulge in a range of spa treatments while you’re there.
From Dhs200. Open daily 10am-10pm. Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island Resorts (02 801 5400).

Danat Jebel Dhanna Resort

It may be a bit of a drive from Abu Dhabi, but once you get to this stunning resort it makes it all worthwhile. It’s the perfect staycation venue as it’s close enough but far enough away at the same time.

And wait until you see the gorgeous stretch of beach where you can plonk yourself down and have a soothing massage in a seaside gazebo.

Choose from a range of therapies, including Swedish, Balinese, Thai or deep tissue, all of which are blissful.
From Dhs250. Open daily 8am-sunset, Danat Jebel Dhanna Resort (02 801 2222).

Espa at The Ritz-Carlton, Abu Dhabi
Tackle your stress head-on with the help of the expert team of the über-luxurious Espa at The Ritz-Carlton.

The pool at this venue is very impressive, so why not leave the confines of four walls behind and go for a four-poster poolside cabaña instead?

Or if you wish, have your treatment by the stunningly gorgeous beachfront.

Whether it’s a head, foot, neck or back massage you’re after (or the whole lot if you want), this is a great spot to indulge yourself in.

Make the most of the weather before it gets too stifling and makes you miss out on such alfresco treats.
Dhs165 upwards. Open daily 10am-10pm. Espa at The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal (02 818 8051).

Iridium Spa Cabana at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort
This haven has just opened an alfresco cabaña offering facials and massages right on the beach. Try the Prep Me treatment, featuring a pre-sun body polish and SPF application, before your day of sprawling out on the sand. Alternatively, you could break up the sunbathing with the Keep Cool massage, which uses cooling aloe vera gel and a cold towel compress.

You could also spoil yourself with the Royal Thai Massage or the Age Defying Facial, which includes a cold-stone massage to alleviate tension in the and the application of age-defying after-sun rescue to keep your skin glowing.
Prices vary. Open daily 10am-7pm. Saadiyat Island (02 498 8996).

Nurai Spa at Zaya Nurai Island
