Thirty 1st Bar & Lounge
Time Out Says
Inside, the décor is sleek and the space dimly lit, if not particularly current or cool. It does have some TVs that make it a surprisingly good spot to watch the football. Outside is where it’s really at, however. The area isn’t huge, but there are some loungey sofas as well as high tables, and it has its own bar.
There are happy hours until 7pm, though drinks won’t break the bank during peak times, with most pints coming in at around Dhs30, bottles at Dhs20 and shorts starting at around the same price. Mixed drinks will set you back a little more.
There’s a small food menu, too, with most dishes showing a distinctly Filipino influence. We try the chilli marinated buffalo chicken wings and fries and there are no complaints. They’d certainly go down well while watching the match with friends.
Staff are great, friendly, helpful and informative. We’re the only people out on the terrace on a quiet night, but in no way do we feel neglected, with plenty of checks to make sure we have everything we need.
While it’s hardly a venue that’ll have people flocking to Abu Dhabi to try, there’s something good about such an understated bar that does all of the basics very well. Throw in that view and you have a venue we really recommend if you’re nearby.
The bottom line
Good value and a great view.
