Time Out Says

There are some evenings when having a few chilled hours with your friends is all you need before you feel ready to head home for
a good night’s sleep.

But then there are other occasions when hitting the hay couldn’t be further down your list of priorities.

Instead you want to let off some steam, dance like nobody is watching, and stay up until just a few hours before you’d normally be getting ready for your sunrise yoga class. On nights such as these, only MAD on Yas Island will satisfy these party cravings.

We arrive just after midnight, resplendent in our glad rags and ready to bust our very best moves. This is the kind of place where you should dress up like you are going ‘out out’.

The super club’s website describes the dress code as ‘upscale and trendy’. Basically, it’s impossible to be over dressed here. If you have an outfit that you deem to be ‘a bit much’ for most bars, chances are it will be perfect for MAD.

We’re here for the Friday ladies’ night, where women get free entry and four free drinks.

As always, it has attracted a young and good-looking crowd.

Walking through the packed dance floor makes us feel like we’ve entered a music video.

We suddenly have an insight into what it feels like to be really rich and equally famous.

To fully experience the luxurious and over-the-top nature of this cavernous venue you can splash out on a private table.

Watching the crowd partying below is an exhilarating experience, and it ensures you’re at the perfect angle for filming the scene for your Instagram story.

We soon catch on to the fact that seats at these tables aren’t actually intended for sitting on.

It isn’t long before we give in to temptation and join the many others who have thrown the padded cushions aside and started dancing on the benches.

Akon, Iggy Azalea and Tinie Tempah are just a few of the huge names who have entertained the revellers here over the years.

Tonight it’s French artist Maître Gims’ turn. The stage juts out from the bar, he’s right in the centre of the crowd and feels almost close enough to touch.

The excitement and passion from our fellow partygoers is contagious and we end up staying out later than we have in years.

A night at MAD is certainly unforgettable. Just make sure it’s on a day when you don’t have to be up early in the morning.
