Where to head if you're not going to the race

1. Blu Sky Lounge & Grill
Football (and Manchester City in particular) usually comes first at this sleek bar, but it’s sure to change up the formula for Abu Dhabi’s biggest sporting weekend of the year. Enjoy every twist and turn while you refuel on classic pub grub and take advantage of a wide range of happy hour deals served up daily.

2. Cooper’s

Celebrate Lewis Hamilton’s title success with a trip out to this traditional British-style pub. Much like the four-time F1 champ, this place really knows how to stay the course. Happy hour here runs from noon until midnight, so you will always be in pole position for a good deal while you watch the action unfold.

3. Heroes
This basement bar at the Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi is anything but back of the grid. The lively venue always draws a good crowd, so expect plenty of petrolheads to get geared up for some sporting fun.

4. McGettigan’s
The ever-popular Irish haunt is a favourite “sport” of call, whatever your game of choice. The Al Raha Beach watering-hole will be offering fantastic food and drink deals, plenty of entertainment and the big race on big screens from the first corner to the chequered flag.

5. NRG Sports Café
From the model of an F1 car parked outside to the framed football shirts inside, this place simply screams sports bar. The stripped-back industrial décor provides a cool vibe, while there are plenty of screens to watch another F1 season come to a thrilling close on.

6. PJ O’Reilly’s
Abu Dhabi’s original Irish pub is still one of the best spots in the capital to catch up on live sport in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. If you haven’t got a ticket for Yas Marina Circuit, plot a course for PJ’s. There will be plenty of good craic in store along with authentic Emerald Isle beverages and bites, including a taste of the black stuff. Settle down, relax and get this show on the road.

7. Porters English Pub

If you are an expat feeling all patriotic about Lewis Hamilton’s championship success, why not motor on down to a pub where you can enjoy an authentic taste of England here in the UAE. From the hearty classics on the menu to the British pub-style décor, you will feel right at home as the all-conquering Hamilton completes his victory lap at the season-closing Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

8. The Sportsman’s Arms
You won’t be surprised to learn that sport is a driving force behind the success of this Boston-inspired venue. The title is a bit of a clue, of course, as is its location on the first floor of the International Tennis Center in Zayed Sports City. Throw in some quality gastropub food and banks of screens in a spacious bar area, some snug boothes, and you have yourself a fine viewing position for the hotly-anticipated race.

9. Velocity
The aptly-named bar is a prime spot in which to satisfy your need for speed. With an eye-popping 38 TV screens adorning the walls of this funky bar, there is little chance of you missing a daring overtake, dramatic crash or wheel-to-wheel duel. You can tuck into a wide variety of tasty dishes and enjoy some simply mind-boggling happy hour deals while Hamilton, Vettel and the rest of the F1 superstars get to work.

10. Victor’s
One of the new kids on the starting block has already made a rapid move to the front of the nightlife grid. The sociable island bar at the centre of the venue, with a large TV screen as its focal point, makes for a buzzing spot when there is a big event on. Victor’s is a winner.
