It’s official – McGettigan’s Abu Dhabi is the best Irish community pub on the planet.
The warm and welcoming watering-hole saw off stiff international competition to scoop the prestigious prize at the Irish Pub Global Awards, held in Dublin last night.
We know it’s no luck of the Irish as the vibrant venue has long been a firm favourite in the emirate.
The awards celebrate the Emerald Isle’s best pubs both at home and abroad.
The Best Irish Community Pub gong is awarded to the establishment that excels in serving up a community experience, such as hosting local events, getting involved in grass-roots initiatives and giving back to the community.
Christopher Rafter, McGettigan’s Abu Dhabi General Manager, said: “McGettigan’s Abu Dhabi is a home away from home for the Irish community in Abu Dhabi. As we get many Irish people travelling to Abu Dhabi, whether it be for a holiday or working – McGettigan’s Abu Dhabi’s main focus is to make people feel welcome and at home.”
Sport is a big part of what makes McGettigan’s Abu Dhabi the best Irish community bar and the bar sponsors the Abu Dhabi Irish Society as well as football team Abu Dhabi Wolfhounds and the newly formed Al Reem Shamrocks GAA team. The pub shows all GAA matches and encourages guests to wear their county colours’ during the games, and often offer a free drink if they do so.
“McGettigan’s try to create a real sense of camaraderie through events and with the large Irish expat crowd, the community spirit comes naturally. Of course being Irish, as a nation we are known to welcome any guest or nationality and McGettigan’s Abu Dhabi holds a strong and favourable reputation with guests from all around the world,” adds Rafter.
Live music, great drink deals and quality pub grub are all part of the winning package, too.
We aren’t surprised McGettigan’s has been name the best bar none on the entire planet.
