Wer're back out in the city and happy to be here. However, we're surprised to find one of the city’s most popular sports bars not showing live sport.

To be fair, there hasn’t been a whole lot of sport to show in the past few months but slowly and surely sports have started to come back and it’s a good excuse to go out with a few friends for a drink, or two.

Oh well... You can’t watch every match and believe us we’ve tried, and we’ll get over missing out on this one. Instead, there are some highlights of previous matches on the screens and cold drinks to enjoy so we aren’t about to kick up any undue fuss.

We order some happy hour drinks and split our group between two tables to meet the safety requirements. Four on one, two on the other, within conversation distance. Staying safe and going out doesn’t have to be difficult. We order some hops, all on happy hour and some nachos, too.

The cold hops is perfect when coming in from the humid summer afternoon and the nachos are an ideal accompaniment for them.

We’re not sure we’ve ever met nachos that we didn’t like and when there’s a load of jalapeños and cheese we’re always happy.

Making our way over to the pool tables we enjoyed some friendly competition with more drinks and stayed a little longer than anticipated as a result.

While we might need to brush up a little on our pool we know how to have a good night out and NRG is still one of the best places in town to watch a game (when they’re showing the match, that is). It’s great to be back and will return for a rematch soon.
