Hidden Bar

Bar review: A smart lounge with a lovely terrace at Rosewood Abu Dhabi

Since it first got its name, Hidden Bar has become a little more well known in Abu Dhabi. What was at first a fairly standard bar at the back of the Rosewood’s lobby (and yes, it was kind of hidden behind big wooden doors) has now become a post-work hotspot and a destination for connoisseurs of juniper-based beverages.

Indoors, there’s a slick lounge area that feels classy and cosy. Think plush curtains hanging from floor-to-ceiling windows, light jazz playing, and low lighting.

The staff are also slick, dressed sharply and well-versed in making their customers feel welcome. They can make recommendations and knock up a mean mixed drink.

The bar itself is striking, with well-stocked shelves and barpeople you can chat to. We recommend pulling up a stool and seeing what they have to offer.

However, outdoors there’s a great view from the terrace. There’s not much in the way of decoration outside, but the vista and the atmosphere more than makes up for that.

As we mentioned juniper is the basis of much of the menu (in fact, it’s hard to overstate how much variety there is) and the drinks are served in oversized glasses. Very impressive.

There’s also a selection of interesting mixed drinks, plenty of grape and some hops on offer.

Making it a little more affordable, there are happy hours from 6pm to 8pm every day and again from midnight to 4am, when drinks are buy one, get one.

All in all, there’s a lot to like about this place.
