Casa De Cuba

A fun and floral party place at Yas Marina

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a real contender on our hands here. Casa De Cuba, one of a clutch of new arrivals at Yas Marina, is cool, casual, good value, and loads and loads of fun.

The mixed drink and music bar, which sits under Cipriani, opened with some fanfare over F1 weekend (when it played host to a Candypants pop-up), but then closed its doors as it readied itself for a full opening on New Year’s Eve (there’s nothing like launching with a bang, eh?).

So, what is Casa De Cuba all about? As you might be able to tell from the name, it has a Cuban theme, with lots of floral patterns and foliage dotted around the place. It also has a drinks menu created by Dinos Constantinides, owner of Lost+Found in Cyprus, which has consistently been named one of the best bars in the world since opening a few years ago.

It’s a half-inside, half-outside venue that opens out onto the Marina walkway, meaning it’s a perfect spot for sundowners (especially when it coincides with happy hour).

Other deals include a Thursday night “drunch” courtesy of those party animals Candypants, Friday Tropicana Sessions (bringing legendary DJs from the UK), a Saturday ladies’ night with top local DJ Cliff Townley, and a Sunday retro-themed ladies’ night. With some kind of deal on every night, the bar offers seriously good value for discerning partygoers.

Another plus point is the inclusive vibe. While there are plenty well-heeled men and women here on our latest visit, it also feels very casual and not in the least bit intimidating. Not something that all of the venues in the vicinity can say.

As you might expect from the man behind the menu, the mixed drinks list is creative and extensive, with something sure to please everyone. There are also the usual hops, grape and shorts available and some small plates, while the bar staff can knock up pretty much anything you want.

Fun, affordable and with a top soundtrack? Casa De Cuba has added something new to Yas Marina, and judging by the crowds, we’re not the only ones who think so.
