Glo

A rooftop bar at Rosewood Abu Dhabi

Home to a good proportion of the city’s best restaurants, not to mention some legendary ladies’ nights, it can be quite tempting to spend every night out on Al Maryah Island.

Because after you’ve sampled some of the amazing cuisine at 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant, Zuma, Dai Pai Dong, or basically any of the area’s trendy eateries, you know you don’t have to go far to find a super-cool spot to carry on your night in.

The Hidden Bar is certainly one of the glamourous bars to be found in the capital. But while this sophisticated venue is perfect for chilling out in with a juniper beverage fusion, you’ll find a totally different kind of vibe up on the third floor of Rosewood Abu Dhabi.

Glo has the ‘wow factor’ from the moment you enter. This is mainly down to the huge tree-like structures that surround the bar and pool area.

Made from shiny metal and illuminated in a range of colours, they are certainly striking.

The open-air bar has a more relaxed and casual vibe than its downstairs neighbour.

When we arrive, there’s a buzz in the air, and we can’t resist taking some panoramic shots of the views on our phone.

The menu is full of inventive mixed drinks, a wide selection of grape and premium beverages from around the world.

You could go for a glass of bubbly, but you’ll be tempted by some of the more exciting mixed drinks. A Curfew Will Not Stop Me sounds especially enticing.

You’ll also find a range of special offers going on here throughout the week.

The ‘Heel Before Me’ ladies’ night offers four complimentary drinks every Tuesday from 6pm to 9pm. Plus 50 percent off food right the way through until the bar closes at 1am.

The daily buy one, get one free offer also runs from 4pm to 6pm.

Or, if you fancy ending your weekend on a high, you can treat yourself to unlimited bubbly for Dhs199 every Saturday evening.

The tunes are pumping throughout the night, and the lively atmosphere is infectious.

With such a cool setting and mesmerising backdrop of the waters surrounding Al Maryah Island, this bar has everything going for it.

The white tables perhaps look a bit dated, but it’s still a very impressive place for an after-work drink or late-night party.
