With Loca, COYA, Butcher & Still and numerous other bars and restaurants all within a short walk from each other, we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing where to eat and drink on Al Maryah Island.
The Rosewood is one of the prettiest hotels in the capital, and the interior of Hidden Bar is just as stylish.
Inside, there’s a flashy gold bar and a table filled with attractive bottles of premium beverages acting as a centrepiece. The pool table has also attracted a crowd.
We head outside to the wide terrace, where a good proportion of the comfortable wicker seats are already filled.
The views over the water surrounding Al Maryah Island are lovely, and the lamps on each table add to the relaxing and sophisticated atmosphere.
We find a free spot tucked away in one of the corners. But it’s a good ten minutes before someone appears to take our order. However, once we do, the drinks arrive swiftly.
As well as a wide selection of grape, much of the menu is dedicated to juniper beverages from across the world. These drinks are served up in a varied and creative selection of fusions.
We’re here for the Wednesday ladies’ night, when girls can enjoy complimentary glasses of mixed drinks from 6pm to 9pm.
Arround us are several groups of ladies making the most of the offer, smartly-dressed people who have clearly just headed straight over from work, and couples enjoying a romantic drink.
A glamorous female sax player keeps us entertained with her mix of covers from across today’s most popular chart-topping tunes.
The weather is perfect for sitting outside and we feel perfectly content taking in the scenes of the sparkling water surrounding us and delighting in our great choice of venue.
The cool establishment also runs a daily buy one, get one free offer on beverages from 6pm to 9pm and from midnight to 3am.
Meanwhile, the food options include tempting bar bites such as truffle fries, crispy calamari and a selection of cheese croquettes. Or if you’re feeling like something more substantial, there are also chicken burritos, mini sliders and classic fish and chips.
If you’re a big fan of the juniper beverages trend, or just want to make the most of the beautiful winter evenings in a picturesque spot, Hidden Bar should be high up on your hit list.
