Where to celebrate Paddy’s Day in Abu Dhabi

The best St Patrick’s celebrations in the capital

They say nobody knows how to party like the Irish, and everyone loves an excuse to dress up in their best emerald green outfit and join in the fun of St Patrick’s Day.

Abu Dhabi is also hosting a number of brilliant Irish-themed events this year, each offering jaunty live music, plenty of Irish hops and endless amounts of proper good craic.

So it’s time to embrace the shamrocks and leprechauns, and get ready to celebrate Paddy’s Day in the capital.

One of the city's most swanky brunches in the capital is getting in on the Paddy's Day fun. We're not entirely sure what's going to be happening but we're expecting potatoes, Irish dancing and lots of green desserts.
From Dhs320. Fri Mar 15, 1pm-4pm. Giornotte, The Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal, Khor Al Maqta (02 818 8282).

Why party for one day when you can party for three? Is what we can imagine our friends at Heroes were thinking when they planned their St Paddy’s event. The weekend-long party features live music from local band The International Playboys, Irish beverages for Dhs25 and three hours of unlimited beverages for Dhs149.
Free. Mar 14-16, noon-4am. Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi, Al Markaziyah (02 616 6132).

It’s not surprise that this lively pub is pulling out all the stops for the big day and hosting a huge beach party. The beach at Al Raha Beach Hotel is being turned into a mini music festival, with Irish musicians Gavin James and The Coronas both performing. The music starts from 6pm and the party continues on afterwards in McGettigan’s, where all ticket holders get a free house beverage.
Dhs200. Mar 14, 6pm-3am. Al Raha Beach Hotel & Resort, Channel Street (02 652 4333).

From 4pm onwards the after party kicks in, with food and drink deals and live music from Sweet Chilli Jam, Spice Berry and DJ Lola Nova. Or, if you want to make a weekend of it, there’s also a ‘Stay & Brunch’ offer which including breakfast and an overnight stay for two.

Porters English Pub
The celebrations kick off with an Irish-themed Friday brunch, featuring all your favourite dishes from the emerald isle. Then from 4pm the after party starts, with music from resident band YFY and DJ Amanda. Anyone who’s skilled on the dancefloor (or not so skilled, it doesn’t really matter) can enter the Irish dance competition, where they’ll be a prize for the performance. Make sure to dress up in your wackiest garb too, as the best-dressed guests will also be awarded.
Prices vary. Mar 15, noon-3am. Grand Millennium Al Wahda, Hazza Bin Zayed Street (02 443 9999).

There’s three days of comforting Irish grub at this friendly pub.
