An award-nominated Emirati filmmaker will take centre stage at a free cinema night at Al Qattara Arts Centre on Friday, January 26.
Nearby Sky, which was crafted by Nujoon Al-Ghanem, will hit the big screen at the culture spot.
The engaging production, which was nominated for best documentary at the Dubai Film Festival, is a unique tale of ‘tri-hump’ over adversity.
It chronicles the inspiring journey of Fatima Al Hamli and her efforts to become the first female camel owner to enter her desert creature into the country’s camel beauty pageant and auctions, coming up against strong opposition along the way.
It is the second film to be shown as part of the ongoing Al Qattara Cinema series launched by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi last November.
The scheme has been rolled out in a bid to introduce Emirati films and directors to a whole new audience.
Free. Fri Jan 26 8pm. Al Qattara Arts Centre, Al Qattara, Al Ain (03 711 8225).
