An internationally acclaimed multi-media art exhibition bringing the works of the iconic Vincent Van Gogh to life is going on display in Abu Dhabi.
Van Gogh Alive, which will take over Abu Dhabi National Theatre for a six-week run starting next week, brings together more than 3,000 images, combined with a specially chosen classical music score.
A rich array of the creative icon’s masterpieces will adorn the walls, floors and ceilings of the sprawling art space, using 40 high-definition projectors.
Art lovers will be wowed by a unique symphony of light, colour and sound as eye-catching artworks are put on dazzling display in their entirety or broken down into highlighted sections and even magnified on a huge scale.
The carefully selected soundtrack will allow visitors to soak in the rich culture of Van Gogh’s impressive collection.
Born on March 30 1853, Vincent Willem Van Gogh is one of the most famous and influential figures in the history of western art. He created more than 2,000 works of art, including 860 oil paintings, before his death on July 29th 1890.
While Van Gogh’s work has been on display in museums and art galleries around the world for more than 100 years they have never been shown in this manner.
Van Gogh Alive is more than just an exhibition of the Dutch Post-Impressionist painter’s work. It is a full-sensory, multi-media experience that is a world away from the traditional, often silent and sometimes unnerving, gallery shows.
