Cultural performance at NYUAD

While mostly recognised for its research work, New York University Abu Dhabi is also known for organising music, theatre, dance, film and interdisciplinary performances featuring students and popular international acts. We take a look at five events planned for October. Visit for more information.

Yellow Brick Road

A theatrical adaptation of L Frank Baum’s most famous work, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, acted out by the students under the watchful eye of director Tomi Tsunoda.

Invisible Threads

An exhibition exploring humankind’s relationship with technology. Themes such as isolation vs connectedness and privacy vs social media are explored.

Rooftop Rhythms

Now in its fifth year, this open mic poetry event attracts the country’s top spoken word artists. It’s a great chance for up-and-coming talents to rub shoulders with some of the established acts.

Saadiyat Spike

Slip on those wrist bands and take your place in the NYUAD Volleyball Tournament.
Dhs500 (per team, up to ten players), Dhs50 individual players. Oct 14-15, 9am. Open to high school, university and club teams. NYUAD.

A Collaborative first for the UAE

Moroccan oud master Driss el Maloumi and Indian slide guitar ace Pandit Debashish Battacharya join forces for this special musical performance.
Free. Oct 27, 8pm. East Plaza, The Arts Center at NYUAD.
