Abu Dhabi shops to slash prices for Ramadan

Shoppers set to see savings of up to 50%

Shoppers could see their grocery bills chopped in half during Ramadan as the Government announces a huge discount scheme.

The Ministry of Economy has unveiled its annual reduction in prices, which should be good news for residents of Abu Dhabi.

It will see between 25% and 50% discount on more than 10,000 products across 600 outlets in the UAE for the whole month.

The news was announced by Dr Hashim Al Nuaimi, Director of Consumer Protection at the Ministry.

The department met with a string of suppliers and traders to agree upon discounts and initiatives.

We expect them to include basic groceries and everyday items.

Ramadan is expected to begin on May 17 this year, which would mean the discounts end around June 17.

A similar discount scheme was announced to celebrate the International Day of Happiness in March, which covered around 600 stores.

But some shoppers struggled to find participating stores in Abu Dhabi.

Hopefully we’ll have better luck this time.
