Restaurants and bars in Abu Dhabi will only be serving soft drinks for a 25-hour period this weekend.
It was confirmed by Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) there will be a dry day from 6pm on Friday April 13 until 7pm on Saturday April 14 and the rest of the UAE will follow suit.
There has been no official announcement from the UAE government, as the specific times and dates are based on the phases of the moon.
Scholars will be watching the moon closely this week to determine when the Al Isra’a Wal Mi’raj day will fall.
It had been suggested that a public holiday could be announced on either Thursday April 12 or Sunday April 15.
But government officials confirmed that will not be the case and there will be no public holiday.
