Travelling by bus between Abu Dhabi and Dubai is about to get a whole lot more luxurious.

Transport chiefs have announced a string of new stylish coaches to ferry passengers between the two cities from next year.

You can use a free internet service and charge your mobile with inbuilt USB portals.

Or sit back and relax with a comfortable footrest and cup holder to place your bottle of water or soda.

Each of the new vehicles will hold 55 passengers and will have a hydraulic lift for people of determination with wheelchairs.

It’s part of a new scheme by the Roads and Transport Authority, which will add 316 new buses to Dubai’s fleet.

They’ll be used to go between the city and other surrounding areas such as Abu Dhabi.

Costing Dh465million, it will see 143 new deluxe intercity coaches, 79 double-deckers and 94 medium-sized urban buses.

Mattar Al Tayer, chairman of the Board of Executive Directors and director-general of RTA, said: “The procurement of the new buses is part of a master plan set out to upgrade mass transit systems in Dubai and keep them aligned with the best global practices.”

It forms part of a push to improve public transport networks in the UAE.

We can’t wait to see what they look like.
