Calendar of events announced for Yas Island in 2018

Highlights include concerts, sporting events, family fun and more

Yas Island has announced its events for 2018 and it looks like Abu Dhabi is in for another brilliant year.

From January there will be an event every week until the end of Ramadan, including seven free ones.

The year will kick off with the Abu Dhabi Invitational, a two-day Pro-Am golf tournament that will take place at Yas Links from January 12 to 13.

Also taking place on January 12 is the Cairo Sound Music Festival featuring Mohamed Hamaki and Aida Al Ayouby at du Arena.

On February 9, reggae fans will be able to celebrate music icon Bob Marley’s birthday with a special festival featuring Kymani and Julian Marley on Yas Beach.

Festivities will continue with Chinese New Year celebrations (February 16 to 24) and sporting fans can also expect some top-level action with the TRIYAS triathlon (February 16) and cycling event Abu Dhabi Tour (February 22).

The sporting action will continue through March with the ITU World Triathalon Abu Dhabi. The world’s best triathletes will descend on the island to compete from March 2 to 3.

The UAE Jet Ski Championships are on March 8 to 9 and the legendary Harlem Globetrotters will entertain fans with their gravity-defying tricks on March 30 to 31.

March madness will continue with girl group Fifth Harmony taking to the stage at du Forum (March 16) and Spring Festival events taking place across the island all through the month.

More family-friendly events can be expected with the annual Pet Festival (April 13), Paw Patrol Live! (April 13 to 14) and The Illusionists (April 20-21).

May 4 sees Reggae Beachfest return while foodie event Food Club Social will take place on May 11 and 12.

The season will close with spectacular Eid celebrations and festivities across the island.
