Here’s how you can get involved with the family-friendly event

Abu Dhabi Science Festival is back for 2019

There’s always loads going on for kids in Abu Dhabi, especially at A'l Bahar.

We’re sure that many of you love heading down to the pretty beachfront destination to sunbathe, eat some ice cream or even work out at Fitness by the Shore.

But you can’t normally dig up a dinosaur or uncover an Egyptian mummy on this action-packed stretch of the Corniche.
Abu Dhabi Science Festival is taking over the area until February 9, and it’s on a mission to get the younger generation thinking that science, technology, arts, engineering and maths are just about the coolest things around.

More than 200 different innovators have joined together to bring us a programme of fun and educational (but definitely not boring) activities.

Taking place across Al Ain, Al Dhafra and Abu Dhabi, there are 70 workshops, seven exciting stage shows and six interesting interactive exhibits all happening in the capital.

A whopping 19,000 young people are expected to join in with workshops.

These exciting sessions let children take part in a whole range of activities, including learning about the laws of motion and energy through practical science experiments, visiting a planetarium, making soap, uncovering an Egyptian mummy, digging up a dinosaur, practicing survival skills and much more.

This is the ninth edition of the festival and it’s running as part of the UAE Innovation Month.

Over 30 of the activities are run on a drop-in basis, so there’s no need to book.

Children aged between five and 15 can be registered for a spot on any of the bookable workshops by visiting www.adsftickets.com.

Weekend tickets for children include access to two workshops or one workshop and one show, while tickets for adults (aged 16 and above) include one bookable show when attending with a child.

The festival is open to the public from 4pm to 10pm during the week, and 2pm to 10pm at the weekend.

However on February 5, the festival will open at 2pm to accommodate for the Pope’s visit.

Prices vary. Mon, Wed & Thu 4pm-10pm; Tue, Fri & Sat 2pm-10pm. Varoius locations including A’l Bahar, Abu Dhabi Corniche, www.adsftickets.com.
