With cycling fever sweeping through the UAE thanks to the Abu Dhabi and Dubai Tours, there’s no better time to slip into some Lycra and hit the open road.

But rather than aimlessly pedal the streets of our city, it’s time to get pumped up for a charity bike ride that will take you across two countries and cover 350km.

Gulf for Good is organising its Great Asian Cycling Challenge in March and is looking for keen riders to join its recruits as they travel through Vietnam and Cambodia.

The challenge will set off from Ho Chi Minh City and take you right into bustling cities and traditional villages, taking in some of South-East Asia’s most remarkable landscapes. And all roads lead to Angkor Wat, a stunning Cambodian landmark and tourist destination to which you will ride in a beautiful sunset.

Dhs15,000 (around half of which will go to Lotus Kids Club). March 10-17. Vietnam, www.gulf4good.com (04 368 0222).
