They say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but at first glance we can’t help but feel our visit to Pacifico TIKI is going to be a success story.

The walk up to the funky Polynesian-style venue is one of the more impressive you will find in the city. Not only is the modern design of the building striking in itself, but the beautiful waterfront views are pretty special, too.

You won’t miss out on the stunning sights whether you dine inside or out, either. We take a perch on the idyllic outside terrace, looking out onto yachts moored on the serene, turquoise waters. However, the views through the vast glass windows in the cool dining area are perhaps even more spectacular still.

During the pleasant winter months, Pacifico Tiki is a great place for an afternoon unwind or a fun night out. There is also plenty to feast your eyes on when it comes to the menu.

We kick off with the hearty seafood chowder and a tasty mushroom and cheese bruschetta.

The cheese is melted nicely onto a crispy baguette, combining well with the soft mushrooms.

We follow up with a trio of mini gourmet burgers and a Cuban steak sandwich.

The mini burgers are a decent feed, but fail to pack the big flavour we had hoped for from the fun-size patties, while the chips also fail to rise above average.

However, the Cuban sandwich, a marinated beef steak covered in cheddar cheese with a slathering of mayo and homemade barbecue sauce on a crusty baguette, is the star of the show and leaves us sad to polish off our final bite.

The food here is of a good quality (and at affordable prics, including an excellent business lunch deal), but it is the superb setting that will ensure you make a return visit.

The bill (for two)
1x bruschetta Dhs49
1x seafood chowder Dhs65
1x Cuban steak sandwich Dhs99
1x trio of mini gourmet burgers Dhs105
Total (inluding taxes) Dhs318

The bottom line
Wonderful views and good-value food.
