Flooka is a seafood restaurant with a Lebanese twist. That means some unusual combinations: potato and Gruyère croquettes with added fish, hummus with added fish, falafel with added fish, a fish shawarma... You get the picture. If you’ve ever eaten a traditional Middle Eastern lamb sausage and thought “that’s nice, but if only someone would make one with fish”, then this is definitely the place for you.

While the AC-heavy inside of Flooka has a somewhat sterile atmosphere, the restaurant’s terrace overlooking the Eastern Mangroves is fairly idyllic. The night we visit it is slightly ruined, however, by a huge dredger sitting a few feet away and churning up plastic bags and other detritus into the elegantly-lit water below.

The service is good, if lacking in confidence – every question about the menu requires a retreat in order to double check. The “fish of the day” carpaccio is flavourful though, and the food is fresh, if a little odd – we don’t enjoy the prawny after-taste of the otherwise decent croquettes. Fish and chips and pasta come in big portions, but are average.
If you want to try fishy mezzes on a pretty terrace, Flooka is a good choice. Otherwise, this place can be a bit of a wet fish.

The bottom line
One for seafood lovers only.
