A new, casual takeaway joint that has got people talking Discuss this article

Just when you thought our city couldn’t handle another burger joint, up pops one more. So, what helps this one stand out from the bunch? Well, for us, it’s a rare occasion when we’ll review a takeaway joint. But when people are talking about a new eatery, we like to check it out. The branding is really funky, and we can’t help but wonder what a small dining area would have been like.

As you’d imagine, burgers and sliders dominate the limited menu. All featuring home-made patties, sauces and buns.

The name of each burger is playful, and in some cases reference the capital itself. There’s the Abu Dhabi Burger and also the 1971 Burger – a nod to the year of the formation of the UAE. Apparently the brand wants to promote Arabian culture and American tastes in a unique way. And, fortunately, as well as having cleverly named burgers, the creativity extends to the food, too.

The Abu Dhabi burger features two well-cooked patties and a great bun.

The secret house sauce has a mild, sweet flavour. Thick slices of fresh tomato, onion, lettuce and cheese are the other toppings and at Dhs47 it’s not bad value for a burger made entirely from scratch, too.

The same goes for the Dangerous Sliders. You get two of these chicken burgers to each order and we have a little chuckle at the bright red buns, which hint at the fiery sauce within The crispy chicken fillets are tender and the pickle adds a sharp tang.

Fries are ordered separately, and the ones on offer here come with melted cheese, tempura crumbs, seaweed and another secret sauce, making the side something more substantial.

BurgerChi is trying to elevate the standard takeaway to something more interesting, and we’re all for it.

The bill (for two)
1x Dangerous sliders Dhs40
1x Abu Dhabi burger Dhs47
1x BurgerChi fries Dhs25
Total (including taxes) Dhs112

The bottom line
Good-quality burgers and decent value.
