Great Belgian bar food to munch on while watching the game 31 Reviews

There’s something about watching sport that makes us hungry. So when we head down to the always bustling Belgian Café on a match day, it’s not long before we’re reaching for the food menu.
We take a spot at the bar, setting ourselves up perfectly in front of one of the TV screens. And with the game already underway, we dive straight in and start with the prawns in garlic butter, just to nibble at during the first half. The prawns are meaty and drenched in a delicious sauce, but unfortunately that has only whetted our appetite – can we have the menu back, please? We wait until half-time before ordering the beef stew, one of the venue's most popular dishes, so our waiter tells us. Underneath the flaky pastry lid of our bowl lies a bubbling broth of tender beef and earthy sauce – something we would have no qualms in drinking on its own. It’s that good. The dish is matched perfectly with Belgian frites, which are by far our favourite in the city. The sauce and the chips make for perfect grazing while we watch the closing minutes of a drab game. The match might have been a bore draw, but with this food, we were winners.
The bottom line Hearty food with options for everyone.By Time Out Abu Dhabi staff
