Lebanese restaurants usually do pretty well in Abu Dhabi, largely due to the fact that, considering the amount of Italian, French, and Thai restaurants in the city, they’re probably the closest thing to traditional food. But that’s not intended to take anything away from ZWZ, which, regardless of the food, has a knack of resembling a sardine tin on a regular basis.

It has managed to maintain locality and identity with its friendly service and almost child-like, crayon drawing decor. As you’d expect, the menu is littered with fluffy dough dishes from pizzas to oven-fresh bread.

The savoury jebneh with jambon is recommended – a thin-crusted wrap blanketing juicy mushrooms, wafer-thin ham and stringy cheese – as is the chocolat with moze – a devilishly rich wrap with sliced banana. Don’t be fooled by the no-frills presentation and portion sizes at ZWZ. The tasty fare cunningly fills the portliest of food critics and satisfies the wisest of palates for next to nothing.

It isn’t out to challenge the city’s top restaurants – chain outlets rarely do – but for a buzzing atmosphere, sociable vibe and traditional, honest food 22 hours a day, ZWZ is far better than a trip to the Golden Arches.

I've tried their delivery as well as the restaurant at Abu Dhabi Mall and I must say their service was excellent. The decor was colorful and the place has a cheerful feel about it. The food is great as well and although its a tad expensive its worth it for the overall experience. May not be the best Arab restaurant in town but it sure is one of the best vegetarian ones around.
