Indigo
Contemporary twist on authentic Indian cooking 4 Reviews

An ancient Greece-style candle-lined water feature marks the entrance into what looks like a spacious penthouse flat fit for a bachelor, complete with chill-out music, crafted wooden screens, leather chairs, private alcoves and an open kitchen, laced with stainless steel. It looks and sounds ultra modern, but the warm beige and deep red and cream drapes ensure a rare feeling of authenticity.
Open the menu and, once again, contemporary ideas are swimming in tradition. Indigo has opted for the minimalist route of providing a single page of eight dishes with the accompanying rice or veg chosen for you, and a page of tandoor and vegetarian options. It’s by no means a case of ‘like it or lump it’, more a case of educated lazy boy tactics to help the indecisive.
Start with the meaty duck tikka kebab (full of rich flavour), and for mains, savour the chunky lamb curry cooked Dhaba-style. The medium-spiced gravy comes served in an iron pot and covers lamb so tender it could be cut with a plastic spoon. A light mushroom naan proves ideal to mop up any remains.
For a chic Indian restaurant, Indigo offers great value for money. A modern edge coupled with an authentic approach offers an alternative curry experience that’ll be hard to beat.
