Automatic Restaurant

If you’re the kind of person that thinks restaurants with grab-and-go shawarma hatches are questionable, think again. The food at this age-old restaurant is consistent – a good reason we at TOAD continually come back for more. It gets all the basics of Lebanese food right and the falafel are up there with the best in the city. Automatic has two locations just opposite one another – one with a small outdoor terrace for when the city enjoys cooler climes. Both offer seating upstairs for families and downstairs for gents. It gets super busy late at night, though, and on occasions such as these the faults in the service begin to appear. Staff are not the quickest, although that cannot be said for the guy who wraps up the shawarmas – he’s pretty fast. But overall, staff are attentive and do their best to remain knowledgeable and welcoming, regardless of how busy the eatery gets.

I will not go there again. The service is terribly bad. The taste of the food is bad. The fish sweet and sour is very salty. The waiters are very arrogant.

Went to the place for Shawarma Sandwiches, as much as the food was good the guy serving had too much of an attitude for a bearer, first he refused to serve shawarma sandwiches saying its only a take away menu, second he refused to serve it even after the manager asked him to do it and finally when he had to give in he came and told me to shut up while he served. So much of attitude in the hospitality business doesnt serve well and the manager had nothing to say when i complained to him except a lame sorry. If someone knows the place where i can make an official complaint id love to.

I used this restaurant frequently in the 80's when I worked in Abu Dhabi and was delighted to see it still going when I returned in the last few years! although the location was different, the quality of the food remains high. Lovely service, very clean and good value for money. I love it and my kids did too(unlike my nostalgic stories!!)

This was my first exposure to Lebanese food in the UAE and I loved it. Had wonderful intro of hommos and moutabel, followed by a fantastic kibbeh, all paired with a delightfully sour minted lemonade. Service was quick, the food was fresh and delicious and the price seemed right. Based on the handful of Lebanese places I went in my two weeks in Abu Dhabi, I say this is bettered only by the Lebanese Flower.
