Light refreshments at the Jumeirah Etihad Towers in Abu Dhabi Discuss this article

There are plenty of places to choose from in Abu Dhabi when you are in need of a lovely cup of tea and a spot of light refreshment, and a little sit down with a bite to eat is what we had in mind when we headed to Lobby Lounge at the recently opened Jumeirah at Etihad Towers. However, upon entering the hotel, all our expectations were blown out of the water. The lobby is grand and super modern, yet it is very welcoming.
The architecture is quite striking and is made up of dramatic sculptural forms with large circular chandeliers as the main focal points. The décor is plush, but not overbearing and even though everything feels decidedly decadent the lobby still has a relaxing air. Fresh and interesting flower arrangements are always on display and they really do add to the ambience. The service at Etihad Towers is really exceptional and the staff are knowledgeable and always willing to help.
Lobby Lounge specialises in light refreshments, having a wide selection of teas and other beverages. With this in mind we first selected the Wagyu burger. It was very tasty burger indeed and came with a generous serving of chunky fries that were quite delicious. The meat was perfectly cooked with a huge slice of gruyere cheese melted over the top. This, in our opinion, really made the burger something special. After we had devoured the burger we ordered the cheese platter, which was beautifully presented and consisted of four different chesses along with celery, grapes, figs and a selection of breads. This seemed the ideal option for having a little nibble enjoying the elegant surroundings.
To top off an already wonderful afternoon we decided to indulge in some of the teas from the great variety on offer. Lobby Lounge serve tea from the TWG collection, which is from Singapore. TWG offers one of the largest tea selections in the world with around 1,000 exclusive tea blends in which all of the tea-producing countries of the world are represented. On this particular day we choose the 5 o’clock tea, refreshing and robust and exactly what an afternoon tea blend should taste like. Our other choice was the crème brulee tea. It was rich and delicious and somehow tasted just like a liquid version of the classic dessert. Both varieties were served in dainty pale blue and white teacup and saucer sets. Our teas were served thoughtfully with a choice of decadent chocolate truffles including dark chocolate, lime and white chocolate with coconut. These were a welcome treat and were suggested carefully by our attentive waitress.
As previously mentioned there are a plethora of venues to choose from here in the capital for this sort of fare, however what sets Lobby Lounge apart are the small touches and the thoughtfulness that goes into the serving of the food and teas in this stunning lobby.
