Given Abu Dhabi’s abundance of excellent, downmarket Indian restaurants, the city’s high-end sub=-continental offerings run into a lot of stick. They’re rarely authentic, say the detractors; superficial; not worth the money. These people have obviously never been to Angar. Though the menu does sport the odd crowd-pleasing favourite (yes, butter chicken fans, your addiction is catered for), those willing to experiment will find there’s far more creative fare to be had - most of it grilled and delicately spiced, rather than smothered in rich, sloppy sauce. Whatever you go for, though, don’t miss out on a side of naan bread. Thick, fluffy and free from the greasy slick you’ll find practically everywhere else, we’d confidently call it the best in town. The dining room isn’t the cosiest place to sit and eat, retaining the same sterile futurism as The Yas Hotel’s other restaurants, but between the colourful decor, exceptionally friendly staff and excellent food, Angar has enough going for it to warrant an immediate visit.

I read very good reviews about the restaurant several times in reviews/ads but was dissapointed when we went there for New year Eve . . . Very slow service. . . Almost 2hrs 15 min to finish our dinner and we had to wait 20 min just for our deserts. . .

We were staying at the Yas Hotel for New Year's and decided to check this restaurant out on one of the evenings. It turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. The restaurant inside was very cramped and crowded. When we asked for a table outside, we were told it is fully reserved, but the tables outside remained unoccupied throughout. We were served a five course meal, but there was a huge delay in between serving of different courses (as much as 25-30 mins between us finishing our course and the next course being served). In addition our waiter was quite rude when we asked him about this. The last few courses were also cold by the time they were served. Food quality was strictly ok. Not sure if this was just a busy night, but would not go back there again. It spoilt our Yas Hotel experience.

i had read v good reviews about the restaurant several times in reviews/ads but was dissapointed that the everytime i called the restaurant it was always closed. i guess it was closed for about 4-5 months.. its surprising that it still managed to appear in ur top 10 restaurants of the year.. a bit of a dissapointment for me as the lamb chops lacked the basic salt.. twice i got drinks on my table which i had never ordered. but the masala cheese naan was v good. maybe it;ll take this restaurant a while to match up with the beautiful location.

Angar has one of the most honest Indian food in Abu Dhabi, pure value for money, live cooking, made after you order, worth the long drive to watch the magnificent architecture of the decade. Yes, the service is bit too attentive but better than no service. Suprisingly, the Chef is a renowned one who has opened and acclaimed awards for the famous Indego in Dubai. Wish them all the best for the future and sure to be back.
