Abu Dhabi is by no means overrun with independent cafes with heaps of atmosphere – in fact we can count them on, uh, just a few fingers. But Planet Café is definitely one of them. Beloved by local regulars, it’s primarily a coffee and sheesha spot, but a much more spruced up, female-friendly version than other similar venues. Food wise, it’s a reasonably-priced spread of Arabic mezze, salads, sandwiches, pizza and a few European main dishes. Nothing is truly outstanding – although we’d highly recommend the deep-fried cheese rolls – but it’s all unpretentious, satisfying grub. The service is casual, and if not exactly warm, at least is efficient and confident. A spread of newspapers and board games (not many - you’ll need to be quick if you want one) complete the home-from-home atmosphere which is no doubt the reason the regulars keep coming back.

Planet Cafe has a very friendly, almost homey ambiance that makes us keep going back there! The food is quite good for what it is and the value for money is great!

Everything is good there, except the music and lighting. Lighting should be made more smoother as its too shining, and they can play better music than the one which is always there in MTV arabia. I seriously don't like it, i think a mixsure of english and arabic would make it better, instead of just one flavor. The sound also is quite high, which should be reduced a bet to have a little calm environment.

I truly think that Planet's menu is filled with mouth watering choices. Their argileh/shisha/hookah is not so bad either.I have not tried everything on the menu; however, these are my recommendations so far:

1. Mexican Chicken: Absolutely delicious! This dish is rich in creamy sauce that is so unique in taste. The rice is very tasty too and fits the combination of chicken, mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes.

2. Beef Strips: Juicy beef strips dipped in creamy white sauce with steamed vegetables and potato wedges.

3. Cheesecake
