Barbeque Al Qasr
Stunning beach setting and barbecued food Discuss this article
From Time Out Abu Dhabi Eating Out 2010
On the right night with the right company, a BBQ in the grounds of Emirates Palace could be a memorable event. Unfortunately, there’s something a bit hit and miss about Barbeque Al Qasr, and the fault lies largely with the layout. On first appearances it couldn’t be better. Little open huts – mini majlises, if you will – are positioned like islands on a small section of golden sand, the waves only a matter of metres away and Marina Mall Tower (squint a bit and pretend it’s a distant lighthouse) flickering in the background.
It has real potential, but the distance it all lies from the BBQ itself, coupled with the lengthy walkway the waiter has to traverse to reach you, make this a bit cold and occasionally annoying. The food is fine, but unspectacular, presented (of course) at palatial prices. The steak and fish have a tendency to be overcooked, and if that’s all you expect from a BBQ anyhow, you may as well find a stretch of beach elsewhere and pay a visit to Carrefour.
