Zari Zardozi - Restaurant Award Highly Commended

From Time Out Abu Dhabi Eating Out 2010
Quite why Zari Zardosi was banished from Le Royal Méridien hotel is something of a mystery. In 2007, we named it our favourite Indian restaurant, but two years later it resides at the corner of Al Raha Mall, one of the most deserted and lonesome shopping centres this end of the Sheikh Zayed Road. It’s a shame too, as the food more than transcends its echoing surroundings as it is by far one of the tastiest curry houses Abu Dhabi has to offer. Start with the dal dips, essentially a plate of red and yellow lentils, but so much more than it looks.
Mop them up with a perfectly prepared basket of naan, then move on to the Goan fish curry – undoubtedly the chef’s speciality – prepared with chunky hunks of hammour; you can almost taste the Goan beaches and their leafy palms in each mouthful. Equally as good is the kai kari korma, packed with fresh vegetables and seasoned with a nutty sauce that pleasantly lingers on your tongue for the rest of the evening. Zari Zardosi is well worth the visit, though you’ll probably have to set aside the best part of the afternoon to get there. The quicker it gets back to the centre of the action, the better.
