From Time Out Abu Dhabi Eating Out 2010
Nestled amongst a labyrinth of chaat counters and Asian eateries, this tiny hole in the wall may have something of a humble exterior (the interior isn’t exactly Emirates Palace either), but venture inside and honest, authentic Indian cooking for little more than Dhs8 a dish is your reward. The service is quick and the surroundings presentable, but the loyal regulars clearly come here for the food rather than the ambience.
The thali in particular is a big hit, with plenty of curd, soup, bread and vada (a fried lentil patty) dished out by a waiter who periodically circles the restaurant doling out extra servings of delicious sag paneer and aloo gobi. Elsewhere, a fine selection of Indian snacks from dosas to chaat (samosas, poori and katchori) accompanies a full menu of masalas, kaddais, koftas and kormas. In short, this is ideal for vegetarians seeking something with a bit more bite. A true diamond in the rough.
