From Time Out Abu Dhabi Eating Out 2010

Resurrecting the spirit of a traditional Bavarian brew house in the desert is a brave move. German food isn’t exactly dainty and from the first taste of a caraway-seed loaf smeared with bacon-infused butter, you begin to realise why lederhosen comes in such large sizes. The wise eschew the sweaty balcony for the atmospheric wooden bar where the air-conditioning is set to ‘Bavarian’ and the roasted vegetables, crispy bacon and buttery gratinated potatoes find their natural home.

Lashings of potatoes, delicious spaetzle dumplings, sauerkraut and pork sausages soon pile up in massive portions, but the cooking is flavoursome and authentic – which is always a decent excuse for a blow out. Meals tend to start out hearty, gradually expand to artery thickening and end up with you surreptitiously using your fork to whittle an extra notch in your belt. In the end, it’s difficult not to love Brauhaus, and while a meal here won’t leave you feeling particularly proud of your waistline, it can be a deeply satisfying experience.

Nice place for good German beer and pub like ambiance
Good points: German food and beer, pork dishes and outside area
When not to busy staff is really friendly
What I want to mention:
- Charge of 10Dhs for each order (Strongly recommend to open a tab to avoid multiple charges).
- Arrive early if you wish to sit down or book a table if coming in group.
Overall like the place and will go back

We went to Brauhaus for a Saturday lunch and had a lovely time.

The staff are friendly and attentive and the food is just amazing, all washed down with some very nice German Ale.

I can't wait to go back!

Brauhaus does a very good job of recreating a fairly authentic German atmosphere, serves very good to excellent food, and has, as the review notes, a good range of refreshing what-we're-supposed-to-call "hoppy beverages".

Given the paucity of such places in Abu Dhabi (and adding in the cook's expert treatment of a wide range of dishes made with, shall we say, non-halal meats), Brauhaus stands out in the capital's restaurant scene as a singularly successful import and a truly enjoyable place to spend some time. For quieter folks, the non-smoking dining room separate from the bar area is a real plus, as well.
