Eat Smart

From Time Out Abu Dhabi Eating Out 2010
Eat Smart has the sort of health-conscious menu you’d expect to see in Seattle or San Francisco – all that’s missing is a waiter with dreadlocks. Its interior is cosy-chic, with tables and sofas scattered throughout, although its ‘organic’ claims are a little suspect – waitresses admit that only the bread really fits the bill. Eat Smart is also expensive for what it is. It takes advantage of its ‘healthy’ reputation and prices are more on a par with a hotel than a street outfit, but you can’t argue with the food. Delicious aubergine and goat’s cheese pizzas sit alongside tasty ciabattas, excellent soups and filling salads, while the detox mojito – a bright green slush filled with ginger and fresh mint – is tart, but perfect for a rough stomach. The overall impression is of a great café with some wholesome, satisfying food; while it isn’t cheap, the location isn’t nearly as noisy as that of the average shopping mall. A smart choice indeed.
