Bite Rite Resto Café

Quirky breakfast spot on Muroor Road Reviews

From Time Out Abu Dhabi Eating Out 2010

With its modern, lime-green interiors, Euro-Indian menu and more breakfasts than a weekend at Dr Kellogg’s B&B, Bite Rite is a welcome surprise. Its location may be something of an enigma – hence the lack of crowds – but a slick, clean cafeteria look and a slightly pedantic nature puts it above the majority of the city’s carbon-copy mall cafés. The menu has more than its fair share of surprises (where else on the streets of the capital would you find bread and jam for Dhs10?) and each dish comes with a complete nutritional rundown just the right side of guilt-inducing. Bite Rite is undoubtedly one of the best spots in the city for a bit of breakfast, with Indian omelettes rubbing shoulders with bran flakes, French toast and enough peculiar ‘-inos’ and ‘-essos’ to keep coffee lovers buzzing for the rest of the morning. After dark, it transforms into a decent restaurant, with a good array of curries, fish dishes and the usual pizza/pasta fare. There isn’t much about Bite Rite that doesn’t hit the spot; whether you want a café-by-day or a diner-by-night, the food is top drawer.

This restaurant is definitely hit or miss, just given the scope of the menu (from pasta arrabiata to alfredo to shrimp with vegetables to pizza to paneer tikka masala). I opted for grilled salmon with white beans and leeks. The meal had absolutely no flavor. No salt, pepper, or herbs/seasoning of any kind. Utterly bland. I also ordered fries that were supposed to be "coated in flax meal and oats" and baked. I had a long discussion about wanting sweet potatoe fries, as this was an option in the menu. First the waiter tried to convince me to get regular potatoe fries, then he said oh, but it will take a long time, then he asked the chef and the chef said sweet potatoe chips were fine, so he went with it. The waiter delivered my salmon first and about 10 minutes later gave me REGULAR potatoe fries. I mean really? Total incompetence. Then two watiers tried to convince me they were sweet potatoe. Then the original waiter came back, checked, asked the chef and told me that they were regular potatoe fries. It's also totally manic in there with about 10 chefs and 5 guys running around yelling orders and bills at each other. Would need to know exactly what is done well there to return.

Its now my favorite healthy restaurant. I've heard about it long time before but always cant seem to find it.

The place is romantic, quiet, not crowded, lots of parking and the menu is exquisite. I certainly will be visiting frequently.
