1. Blue Marlin Ibiza UAE
How could we talk about beach parties without mentioning this Ibiza import? Waterside lounging here comes with the added benefit of music from huge international DJs. This weekend, see Jamie Jones and Serge Devant at the massive season-closing party. Jones is perhaps best known for his cross-genre band Hot Natured and his label Hot Creations, as well as his series of huge parties, while Devant is an artist on Emerald City, a sub-label of Hot Creations focusing on vocal-led house.
Free (reservations recommended). Fri May 19, 1pm-11pm. Golden Tulip Al Jazira Hotel & Resort, Ghantoot (056 113 3400).

2. J’adore Pool Party at Saadiyat Beach Club
Saadiyat is gearing up for another season of pool and beach parties. Ladies, head down on a Tuesday for Mademoiselle, which runs all afternoon from 1pm until sunset. On weekends, it’s all about the J’Adore pool party. Laze by the water, float on inflatables in the huge 650-square-metre swimming pool, dance around, sip beverages, sunbathe, nibble sushi platters, take a dip in the sea and watch the sun set over the beach. A Friday well spent.
Dhs420 (1pm-4pm), Dhs100 (gents, 4pm-8pm), Dhs50 (ladies, 4pm-8pm). Sat 1pm-8pm. Saadiyat Beach Club, Saadiyat Island (02 656 3500).

3. Liquid Rain at Aloft Abu Dhabi
This wet and wild night has been hugely popular over the last few years, and since it involves dancing in the rain – a novelty to say the least out here in the desert – we’re not surprised it has become such a hit. Now they’ve taken things one step further and added foam cannons into the mix. The soundtrack comes from DJ Angelo and Dance FM’s Danny Cee, and Etihad employees get 40 percent off on beverages all night.
Free for ladies, Etihad and Emirates employees before midnight, Dhs50 thereafter; Dhs100 (gents). Fri May 19, 8pm-3am. Mai Café, Aloft Abu Dhabi (02 654 5193).

4. Maya Fridays at Al Maya Island
Hop on a boat out to this idyllic, sandy island where a huge beach and pool party is held every Friday. Unlike most expensive beach clubs in the city, the table packages offer good value for money (Dhs1,500 gets you one house bottle, soft drinks, ten bottles of hops, plus a platter of fajitas and another of fruit).
If you’re not keen on splashing out as a gang, however, entry is just Dhs100 for the full ten hours, and free for ladies if you turn up before 1pm. If you are lucky enough to own a private boat, you can dock it at the island for Dhs500.
Free for ladies before 1pm; free for Etihad employees before 2pm, Dhs100 thereafter; Dhs100 for gents. Fri 11am-9pm. Al Maya Island & Resort, Al Maya Island (055 114 5311).

5. Pool Party at Yas Beach
Chilled-out beach club Yas Beach hosts a pool party on Fridays with music from DJ Emir and DJ Darryl Rees. Simple and straighforward, this one is all about “pool, sun, music and fun”. Just the ticket after a long week.
Dhs100. Fri 1pm-9pm. Yas Beach, Yas Island (056 523 4334).

6. SIN Beach at Wakataua
Casual beach bar Wakataua is the place to go for sunset beverages on the beach. The SIN beach party features tunes from Chris Delaney and Lucy Stone and happy hour from 4pm to 9pm when you can get 50 percent off on beverages.
Free. Fri 4pm-midnight. Le Méridien Abu Dhabi, Tourist Club Area (02 644 6666).
