Abu Dhabi’s rich culture will soon be available at the click of a mouse – or the swipe of a finger – thanks to an innovative new digital initiative.

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) is to launch a comprehensive online hub, called Abu Dhabi Culture, which will act as a one-stop reference point for everything to do with culture in the city.

Featuring a mobile app and a website and supporting social media presence, Abu Dhabi Culture will act as an essential educational tool for locals, expats and tourists alike, as well as a reference point for researchers and academics in search of more detailed information.

Government chiefs say the new app will act as a ‘cultural oracle’ for users.

The digital resource will take advantage of the latest technological trends, with features such as personalised content, 360 visuals, interactive floor plans, podcasts from culture experts and a huge database covering all culture locations and events.

Abu Dhabi Culture will be rolled out on February 27 as part of UAE Innovation Month, which celebrates forward-thinking and creativity in the country.

HE Saif Saeed Ghobash, director general of DCT, said: “Released as part of Abu Dhabi’s contribution to UAE Innovation Month, this product has been designed to maximise accessibility to Abu Dhabi’s highly rich cultural landscape, both historical and contemporary.”
