A major Abu Dhabi transport link will remain closed until Saturday while upgrade work is carried out, police have said.

Abu Dhabi Police have announced that Sheikh Zayed Tunnel will be sealed off to traffic from midnight until 11.30am tomorrow.

The tunnel has been closed to allow the overhaul to take place since Wednesday.

Traffic will be diverted to the Sea Palace Tunnel during these times.

Transport bosses launched a Dhs109m improvement project on the tunnel last June.

As part of the initiative, a 400m slipway between Sheikh Zayed Road and the tunnel between Al Falah Street and Hazza bin Zayed Street is due to completed by August 2019.
