55&5th, The Grill: An impressive diningroom sets the scene for some exciting cuisine. It’s primarily a steak restaurant, but there are other interesting options on the menu as well – although it is the special ‘vintage’ steaks, which are aged 21 days, that make 55 & 5th so special. Starters are, on the whole, good and fairly substantial, while the steaks are sublime and accompaniments from sauces to vegetables all hold their own. The fries, in particular, deserve a special mention because of the magic seasoning that catapults them into the stratosphere. Desserts, if you still have room, are a nice end to a superb meal that’s worth the high prices you’ll pay. Watch out for the live music from the pianist – if you’re seated in the wrong place it can be a little loud and not quite in keeping with the feel within the rest of the restaurant.
