5 to try: Steakhouse
Be the first to comment 15 February 2012 Marco Pierre White Steakhouse & Grill:Celebrity chefs are an easy target for cynics, and it’s fair to say that they usually don’t do themselves any favours. But amid the cheap cash-ins and hollow vanity projects there’s this – the maiden voyage into the Abu Dhabi dining scene from scowly Englishman Marco Pierre White. Unlike so many other ventures from the gastronomy world’s poster boys it is, quite simply, fantastic. The service is superb, with staff so polite and attentive you may begin to suspect they’re over-compensating for something. As soon as the food arrives, though, any and all concerns are forgotten, with both fish and meat dishes beautifully presented and masterfully executed. The big draw is, of course, the selection of steaks and in particular the dreamily succulent wagyu tenderloin. Team this with a side of crispy triple cooked chips, follow it up with a mountainous sticky toffee pudding and you’ll sign off the bill convinced you’ve discovered a tiny piece of paradise.
