Sometimes, only a pizza will do. Maybe you like yours served in a fancy restaurant, with gourmet ingredients artfully strewn across the top of an ultra-thin, wholesome base. Maybe you like things a little more basic, stuffing down a thick slice smothered in stringy mozzarella while you watch OSN Sports. Or perhaps your favourite thing to do is just rip off a fat, chewy crust, dunk it in tomato ketchup and devour it in one bite. Whatever your preference, we feel ya. We ate: Pappagallo Pizza
The pizza: The standout pizza is the Pappagallo, which comes heaped with tomatoes, smoked duck breast, capsicums, pine nuts, spinach, mozzarella and blue cheese. This sensational signature pizza is a great choice if you are wanting to try something a little bit different, as the duck has a rich flavour and the pine nuts and blue cheese add depth to each bite. The sizing of the pizzas at Pappagallo is pretty generous, probably about right for one person with a big appetite.
The rest: We love the alfresco dining area of Pappagallo for its warm ambience and the feeling of being on holidays in a small Italian village. The well-balanced menu boasts a wide range of different pizzas as well as a number tasty side dishes – our top pick is the caprese salad, which is comprised of layers of thick and tasty buffalo mozzarella stacked with fresh tomato, fresh basil, grilled zucchini and eggplant, all topped off with a generous drizzle of neat balsamic vinegar. If you think you can find room for it all, or a large group of you are sharing, order the bruschetta and the calamari too, which make great accompaniments.
