Abu Dhabi’s best sports bars
1 Comments 11 May 2011 NRG
Selling point: Until the opening of Stars ’n’ Bars on Yas Island, NRG was the only bar in town that exclusively sold itself as a sports bar. It’s well worth a visit to catch the games, as it has a sleek, modern interior and more than enough screens to mean that even on busy days you’ll be able to see all the action rather than staring at the back of some lanky bloke’s head. The pool tables and darts board are also a big plus should there by a dire 0-0 game on the telly and you’re boredom level reaches breaking point.
Number of screens: Eight screens dotted over the walls, plus two giant ones outside.
Seating availability: When major sporting events are on the box, finding a seat in one of the booths or on a bar-side stool can be nigh impossible.
Details: Open daily 4pm-1am. Le Méridien Abu Dhabi, Tourist Club Area (02 644 6666)
