Fresh from appearing on big screens as Aquaman in last year’s Justice League, Jason Momoa is back in another action movie. Momoa’s character was one of the highlights of the plodding superhero outing, so
his stock is reasonably high.
Will Braven help build on that? Based on the trailer, it can’t do him any harm.
Clunky name aside, it looks like the kind of action movie they used to make before the advent of CGI, and we’re all the happier for that.
Momoa is Joe, who along with his dad (Stephen Lang), heads off to a remote cabin in the woods for a quiet weekend of hunting and bonding. It wouldn’t be a movie if it all went well, however, and before long, the stash of contraband they find at the lodge is attracting all kinds of trouble. Joe doesn’t take being terrified lightly, thankfully, and embarks on a mission to wipe out the bad guys. Now that sounds good to us.

the bottom line An old-school action thriller with a good lead.
