During the Second World War in the Black Sea city of Zonguldak, twentysomething poets Rustu Onur and Muzaffer Tayyip Uslu fall head over heels in love with Suzan, daughter of prominent businessman Zikri. The writers agree a wager. Rustu or Muzaffer will both pen Suzan a poem and ask her to read their verse: Whichever composition she chooses as her favourite will determine whether Rustu or Muzaffer can woo her.
