Super Bowl LII (that’s 52 for those of you not up on your Roman numerals) is ready for touchdown – and you can catch every field goal, crunching tackle and dramatic interception right here in Abu Dhabi.

American football fans will have to set their alarm clocks early with the huge showdown between the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles kicking off at 3.30am UAE time on Monday, February 5.

Fear not, American football fans, however, as some of the capital’s best bars will be keeping their doors open for one of the biggest events on the global sporting calendar.

Even if you just think the game is just rugby with shoulder pads and helmets, it is hard not to get caught up in the razzmatazz of an event which transfixes millions upon millions of fans all over the planet every year.

You might not quite understand the rules, but you can’t miss the chance to witness famous half-time show – this year headlined by musical mega star Justin Timberlake.

So get in the (end) zone and prepare for a bowl load of fun at this footballing hot spots.

Blu Sky Lounge & Grill
This sleek Southern Sun venue is more used to showing the other type of football (soccer, if you must) but they will be going all out for the American version’s biggest date of the year. International DJs will be on decks, music will be blazing, plus there will be giveaways and drink and food specials throughout the 15 (count them) hours of fun. Even if you don’t really like American football, this sounds like a top deal.

Cooper’s Bar & Restaurant
Say good morning America at one of the capital’s best-loved pubs. The Super Bowl will be beamed live on the venue’s giant screens, while a special breakfast menu will be rolled out for the occasion along with great deals on selected drinks. Whether you want the Philadelphia Eagles to land the victory or you’re passionate about the patriots (or just want to find out what all the fuss is about) it might be time to book the morning off work and head down to Cooper’s.

Loca
You’d be crazy not to love a visit to Loca – especially on Super Bowl day. The lively Latin American venue will be adding some extra spice to the action by serving up Mexican-style breakfasts as soon as doors open at 3.30am. Bring along a good group of pals (five or more) for the eagerly-awaited contest. Advanced booking is advised but not required.

McGettigan’s
This ever-popular Irish haunt is always one of the best spots in the city to catch live sport. It’ll be no different come Super Bowl Sunday (well, Monday over here) as early risers congregate for a slice of Stateside sporting tradition. Watch the drama unfold on the pub’s array of HD TVs while you tackle signature chicken wings and burgers, an extensive bites menu and enjoy beverage deals.

Stars ’N’ Bars
The funky American sports bar is the perfect place to settle down and watch the battle for gridiron glory commence. Armchair quarterbacks can cheer on their favourites from 3.30am, but the Yas Island venue will be getting sports fans warmed up for the game nice and early (so early in fact it starts on a different day). Enjoy a sizzling barbecue tailgate party from 10pm on Sunday, February 4 all the way through to 3am. Revellers can also get on song by enjoying a spot of karaoke from 10pm until 2am. Once the game gets underway, you’ll find there isn’t a bad view in the house, with a staggering 76 HDTV screens and a gigantic 3x3 metre large screen perched just outside the dining terrace. Good old fashioned football food, including chicken wings, chips, ribs and more, will be served throughout, too. Super Bowl classics from the past will also be shown from 9pm until 3am to get you hyped for the game. Booking in advance is recommended.
